How can a retailer combine online and in-store sales into one view?
Load sales from both channels into a central database, map products and customers to common IDs, align dates and currency, and model a single sales fact table with a channel field. Then reconcile each channel to payments and accounting totals.
Key steps:
- Product mapping: shop SKUs and till codes need a common product master.
- Treat returns consistently across channels.
- Align tax, discounts and gift card handling.
- Standardise time zones and trading-day cut-offs.
- Decide how to identify customers across channels, with consent and privacy in mind.
Once unified, you can compare channel margins, stock turn and promotions. Zansa works with Shopify, Excel and CSV exports and Xero for retail and e-commerce clients, among others.
