How do I calculate revenue per consultation and revenue per practitioner?

Revenue per consultation is total billed (or collected) revenue divided by the number of consultations in the period. Revenue per practitioner divides revenue by the number of practitioners, or better, by their clinical hours, so part-time staff compare fairly.

It matters because it shows the income each unit of clinical time produces.

Commonly misread:

Use revenue per available clinical hour as the fairest comparison, and always state whether the figure is billed or collected.
