What does Zansa mean and where does the name come from?
Zansa comes from the Japanese word 残差 (zansa), meaning residual. In statistics, the residual is the gap between what a model predicts and what actually happens, which is where the useful insight often sits. Zansa is a data analytics and data science team based in South Africa.
The name reflects an approach of looking closely at what does not add up: numbers that do not match, results that differ from expectations, and gaps between reports and reality.
Zansa works remotely with small and mid-sized companies anywhere in the world, serving sectors such as retail and e-commerce, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, property, hospitality and professional services. The name is also a reminder that the unexplained differences in your numbers are worth investigating, not ignoring.
