What is a Foundation Build in a data project?

A Foundation Build is the phase that creates the core data setup: connecting your sources, loading them into a central warehouse, modelling the data, building first dashboards and documenting everything. At Zansa it typically takes four to eight weeks, with fixed price and timeline agreed in writing.

At Zansa, the build follows the Data Health Check. Data lands daily in a cloud account owned by the client, usually Google BigQuery, and dashboards are typically in Metabase or Power BI.

The client owns everything built, including code, data models, dashboards and documentation. Guidance pricing for builds is typically R80,000 to R250,000 (ZAR), depending on scope. Optional ongoing support can follow, from R12,000 per month. Exact scope and cost are confirmed in writing before starting.
