Why is the company called Zansa and what does the name mean?
Zansa comes from the Japanese word 残差 (zansa), meaning residual: the part of the data that a model leaves unexplained. In forecasting and statistics, studying the residual shows what a model has missed, which is where improvement and insight usually come from.
A residual is the actual value minus the model's prediction. If a model has captured the real patterns, what remains looks like random noise. If it has not, the leftover shows structure, such as a missed seasonal effect or a one-off event.
The name reflects an approach of looking carefully at what is not yet explained, being honest about the limits of a model, and treating error analysis as a routine part of the work rather than an afterthought.
