How do I reconcile stock levels between my ERP, warehouse and online shop?
Choose one system as the source of truth for stock, compare quantities per SKU across systems at the same point in time, and classify differences by cause, such as in-transit stock, reservations, returns or timing. Automate the comparison and review exceptions regularly.
Typical causes of mismatch:
- Different SKU codes or units of measure.
- Reserved or allocated stock counted differently.
- Returns processed late.
- Sync delays between the shop and warehouse system.
- Bundles and kits that decompose differently.
Build a SKU mapping table first. Then snapshot stock daily so you can see when and where differences began. Fix the process that creates the difference, such as delayed receipting, not only the report.
